Decision to celebrate I-Day in a low-key manner

ROING, Jul 30: The Lower Dibang Valley district administration, headed by Deputy Commissioner K N Damo, today decided that this year’s Independence Day would be celebrated in a low-key manner, without public gathering, but by maintaining social distancing and COVID appropriate behaviour.

Addressing a meeting at the Anchal Samity Hall here, the DC appreciated the efforts put in by all to bring down the COVID-19 positive cases and the positivity rate, and added that maintenance of SOPs is the only way to keep lockdown at bay.

“The Roing town area is especially vulnerable as the virus is still around and so we still need to strictly follow the night curfew, social distancing and masking, and need to get all eligible people vaccinated at the earliest,” he added.

The DC also spoke on the drug menace and said that it can destroy families and added that it is a great challenge to root out if it takes hold. He cautioned all government servants against its use.

District SP J K Lego, administrative officers, heads of departments, public leaders and principals of educational institutions attended the meeting. (DIPRO)
