One more fatality takes State COVID toll to 226

379 daily cases, 488 recoveries

ITANAGAR, Jul 30: In a repeat of yesterday’s pattern, Arunachal Pradesh today reported one more fatality due to Covid-19 that swelled the State’s death toll to 226.

Also, the recoveries outnumbered the daily cases for the second day on the trot.

A 65-year-old female from Lower Subansiri district, who was suffering from diabetes mellitus, tested positive for Covid-19 at Gyati Takka General Hospital, Ziro on July 18 and was admitted at its DCHC on July 20. She died there yesterday (7.30 pm) due to ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome) with COVID pneumonia. The patient didn’t receive any dose of a vaccine, informed State Surveillance Officer (IDSP), Dr L Jampa.  

The body was handed over to the family members as per Covid-19 SOPs, said Dr Jampa.

Meanwhile, the State today recorded 379 new cases that increased its tally of confirmed cases to 47856.

On the contrary, 488 recuperated during the past 24 hours that reduced its active caseload to 4142 and swelled the total discharged cases to 43488.

Continuing its rising drift, ICC, the worst affected district, today also found 112 cases (over 100 recorded for fifth straight day) that dipped (more cured) its active caseload to 1120.

Lower Subansiri stayed at the second spot by detecting 35 cases (more recoveries) to take its tally to 324. Papum Pare reported 28 cases (higher recoveries) to dip its tally to 322.

Changlang registered 33 cases, Lohit & West Kameng 18 each, Namsai, Upper Subansiri & West Siang 15 each and East Siang 14, among other districts.  

206 of the fresh cases were found to be asymptomatic and 173 symptomatic.

With the testing of 257 samples, L/Subansiri led the list of top three affected districts with a daily positivity rate of 14 percent (as on today).

On the positive side, ICC reported 130 recoveries, followed by L/Subansiri at 37. P/Pare discharged 35, Tawang 34 and East Siang 32, among others.

The State today tested 6182 samples for Covid-19 that took its cumulative figure to 9,33,698.
