PASIGHAT, Jul 30: In a strange incident, three policemen from neighbouring Assam allegedly harassed three female commuters from Arunachal’s West Siang district before taking bucks from them and allowing them to move ahead that prompted a concerned father lodge a complaint with the SP, Lakhimpur for taking ‘appropriate’ action against his subordinates.

In his complaint lodged with the SP against the ‘erring’ cops, one Jummar Bagra of Jeyi Bagra village, Aalo, West Siang alleged that Havildar Surya Gogoi, constable P Bharali and HG Tarun Buruah harassed his daughters near Gogamukh at around 2 pm on Thursday by stopping their vehicle when they were on their way to Itanagar and demanded Rs 4,000 and asked them to go back if they failed to pay. After bargaining, the amount was decreased to Rs 2000 and on payment, the trio let them go, he claimed.

Bagra also alleged that after taking money, the police personnel used abusive language against his daughters, who were “very much frightened and could not utter a word against them. They are still in a state of panic,” he added.

When contacted, the Lakhimpur SP said, “Accused have been identified and action will be taken against them as per the law.”
