PASIGHAT, Jun 24: With the rivers and streams in East Siang district in view of the surge in monsoonal rains, the district administration has issued an advisory.
As a prevention measure, the people have been cautioned to avoid venturing into river Siang for fishing, swimming etc to stop occurrence of any casualty during monsoon period.
People living in the low lying areas ( both left & right bank of river Siang) viz Jarku, Paglek, SS Mission, Jarkong, Banskota, Berung, Sigar, Borguli, Seram, Kongkul, Namsing and Mer areas nearby river Siang are advised to remain alert during rainy season. Further. as per the recent order & advisory issued by the DA on June 20th, strict action will be taken under section 188 IPC and other relevant provisions of law against violators for lifting drift wood such as logs, trees, bamboos, clamps and any uprooted tree/vegetative materials brought by the river from upstream and parks along both the banks of river Siang.
