Taki flags off 7 Mobile Soil & Water Testing Labs procured under RKVY-RAFTAAR

ITANAGAR, Aug 5: A departmental meeting to review the progress of Central Sector and State Plan schemes was held at the DK Convention Centre here today under the chairmanship of Tage Taki, Minister Fisheries, and attended by Sandeep Kumar, Principal Secretary (Fisheries), Belatee Pertin, Commissioner and Joyshil Taba, Director, besides by all District Fisheries Development Officers and officers from the Directorate of Fisheries.

The Minister while taking a review of the schemes expressed his satisfaction over the progress being made but also cautioned that the schemes/projects should be implemented within the timeline, while asserting that it shouldn’t be stretched.

He also opined that any delay in execution of the scheme leads to the suffering of farmers and it should be avoided at any cost. He further stated that a robust database is the backbone of any successful planning and it should be updated regularly so as to give an insight of actual development.

In a remarkable day for the department and a ‘major boost to farmers, the Minister flagged off 7 Nos of Mobile Soil & Water Testing Lab procured under RKVY-RAFTAAR 2021-22 for various districts, said an official release.

He expressed confidence that the farmers would now be benefited more and proper management of their farms can be achieved thereby taking aquaculture in the State to a “newer height”.

In his address, the Principal Secretary who has taken over the charges of the department recently acquainted himself with its different activities. He opined that the State has huge water resources which can be best exploited for furthering aquaculture and fisheries in the State. He exhorted the officers to come up with innovative ideas which will benefit the farmers in a true sense and assured his support and cooperation in the endeavour.

The Commissioner, in his address, urged the officers to be sincere and work for the welfare of fish farmers of the State.

The Director briefed the house about the importance of such a meeting and presented an overview of the fisheries sector in the State.
