ITANAGAR, Sep 4: In a shocking turn of events, the Daporijo Police has arrested nine individuals in connection with the abduction and murder of a man, whose body was recovered from a secluded location where it was buried recently.

The incident came to light on September 1 when a zero FIR was received at Daporijo Police Station from Assam’s Silapather PS regarding kidnapping of one Sanjay Nath by 4-5 persons near Subansiri Bridge. As per the zero FIR, the complainant, who is the father of the abductee, suspected one Tabu Doni to have committed the offense.

Upon receiving the FIR, Daporijo Police immediately registered a case under Sections 140(3)/3(5) BNS and formed special teams to search for the missing person. Led by DSP Gamli Loyi and Inspector Jawpha Wangsa, the police teams conducted extensive searches in and around Daporijo.

Their efforts paid off on September 2 when they received crucial information regarding the location of Nath’s body. The police team along with magistrate Goken Koyu immediately rushed to the secret location, which is around 7 km from Daporijo en route to Taliha, along the bank of Subansiri river, where the dead body was buried.

The body was then exhumed and taken to District Hospital for identification and post-mortem examination (PME). Once the confirmation was done, additional Sections 103(1)/238 BNS were added to the case. The PME was conducted on September 3 and the body was handed over to the family members.

After the recovery of the body, six persons were arrested on September 2 itself, for their involvement in abduction and concealment of the body.

The arrestees have been identified as Arjun Ramsyari (19) of village Laa, Madhuri Pathar (Silapathar, Assam); Yachak Rai (23) of Naba village, Nacho, Upper Subansiri; Sanu alias Dipak Tamang (27), a resident of Lekapani, Jagun (Tinsukia); Tarsis Bagh (19) of Posumi Camp, Gogamukh; Kamki Lusi Leya (29) of Leya village, Daporijo; and Anand Rao (30), a resident of Tarba village, Gumma (Odisha).
