KHONSA, Nov 28: The Department of Disaster Management successfully concluded a 12-day Community Volunteers Training Program in Tirap district today.
The November 17-28 initiative aimed at strengthening disaster preparedness in the 10 most vulnerable villages of Tirap district—Laho, Longo, Longbo, Khowathong, Notun Kheti, Soha, Lainwang, Bunting, Lazu, and Tutnu.
The program was led by DDMO Emily Tingkhatra.
Attending as resource person, In-charge SDRF Regional Response Centre (RRC) cum Training Supervisor ASI Yumto Pulong, along with SDRF personnel from the SDRF RRC, Khonsa and five ToTs from the Department of Disaster Management, imparted training to the participants.
The sessions covered basic first aid, survival skills, emergency response, and comprehensive disaster preparedness. Practical, hands-on demonstrations ensured that community volunteers are better equipped to respond effectively during emergencies.
At the valedictory session, the department distributed solar lamps, first-aid kits, raincoats, and other essential items to enhance community readiness and strengthen resilience at the grassroots level.
Meanwhile, the Dept of Disaster Management has extended its appreciation to all participating villages for their active involvement and cooperation, which contributed significantly to the successful completion of the program and further reinforced the district’s disaster response mechanism. (DIPRO)
