RONO HILLS, Jun 8: As part of the nationwide countdown to the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026, Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) organized a Yoga Quiz Competition, which was conducted with the objective of promoting awareness about yoga, health, hygiene, mental well-being, and holistic living among the university community.
After a closely contested competition, Team-I comprising Kalpana Sarkar and Tulika Lahon bagged the first position. Team-II consisting of Mamata Sonowal and Monisha Ado got the second position, while Team-III represented by Olik Darang and Kali Boje clinched the third position.
The winners will be felicitated with certificates and prizes during the celebration of the International Day of Yoga on June 21.
Conducted under the guidance of RGU Vice Chancellor Prof S K Nayak, the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, research scholars, teaching staff, and non-teaching staff. A total of five teams participated in the event, demonstrating their knowledge and understanding of various aspects of yoga and wellness. The quiz covered a wide range of topics, including Yoga Asanas, Pranayama, Yoga Postures, the history and philosophy of yoga, and general awareness related to health and wellness.
The event was conducted smoothly with Rikpu Kamcham and Mumni Tayeng serving as scorers. Dr Sushant Kumar Nayak, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, efficiently conducted the programme as Quiz Master, while Dr A Yuvaraj, Assistant Director Physical Education, coordinated the overall event.
The programme witnessed active participation and enthusiastic involvement from members of the university community, reflecting RGU’s commitment to promoting yoga, physical fitness, mental well-being, and a healthy lifestyle.
The Yoga Quiz Competition forms part of a series of signature activities being organized by Rajiv Gandhi University in the lead-up to the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026, which will be observed under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”
