NSS Special Camp Wrapped Up Successfully at CoA, Pasighat

ITANAGAR, Jun 8: A seven-day NSS Special Camp 2026, organized by the NSS Unit, College of Agriculture, CAU (Imphal), Pasighat, from June 1 to 7 at Bodak village in East Siang district, concluded successfully with a valedictory programme at Seminar Hall of the College of Agriculture, Pasighat today.

The programme was marked by the administration of the ‘Pledge for Life – Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE)’.

The function was graced by Rajkapoor Lamba, a renowned social worker of national repute, as chief guest, besides Kangge Tayeng, Gram Panchayat Member, and Salia Tayeng, GPM of Bodak village, faculty members, non-teaching staff, and NSS volunteers also attended.

Addressing the gathering, Lamba encouraged the volunteers to play an active role in nation-building. Emphasizing that service to society begins at the individual level and extends to the nation, he urged students to uphold the spirit of the National Service Scheme through selfless service and meaningful community engagement.

In his address, Prof Sanjay Swami, Dean CoA and chairman of the camp, said that the special camp provided a valuable opportunity for students to learn from the village community while sharing their agricultural knowledge and skills with the villagers.

He appreciated the active participation of NSS volunteers in the nationwide Khet Bachao Abhiyan, establishment of a nutritional kitchen garden, blood donation activities, environmental conservation programmes, and other community service initiatives.

A brief report on the camp was presented by Dr Kh Lily Devi, NSS Programme Officer, highlighting the successful implementation of various activities by 58 NSS volunteers. Among others, major activities included cleanliness drives in the college campus and Bodak village, demonstrations on vermicompost production technology, drug awareness campaigns, and a blood donation camp organized in collaboration with the Blood Centre, Bakin Pertin General Hospital, Pasighat.
