ITANAGAR, Jun 8: Indian Army’s Gajraj Corps conducted a motivational lecture and weapon display during Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) of 1 Arunachal Pradesh Battalion NCC at the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), Nirjuli.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 350 NCC cadets and students from various educational institutions. The display aimed to provide participants with an insight into modern military weapons, surveillance systems, and equipments employed by the Indian Armed Forces many of which are indigenous.
The weapons showcased during the display included the SIG Sauer 716 Rifle, a state of the art battle rifle known for its accuracy and reliability; the Negev 7.62 mm Light Machine Gun (LMG), designed to provide sustained fire support; the SAKO TRG-42 Sniper Rifle, renowned for long-range precision; the 84 mm Recoilless Launcher Mk-IV, a versatile weapon system used against fortified targets; the 40 mm Multi Grenade Launcher (MGL), capable of delivering rapid grenade fire; the MP9, a compact weapon suited for close-quarter engagements; and the AK-203 Assault Rifle, a modern assault rifle combining enhanced ergonomics with the proven reliability of the AK platform.
The equipment display featured the Uncooled Hand Held Thermal Imager (HHTI) used for surveillance in low-visibility conditions, the Thermal Imaging Sight for enhanced target detection, the Reflex Sight for rapid target acquisition, the Spotter Scope for long-range observation and target identification, and the Holographic Sight for quick and accurate aiming.
The event also gave students the first-hand experience to interact with soldiers serving along our frontlines which instilled a sense of belongingness that will help them and our society in being better citizens.
The programme was attended by Capt (Dr) Achyut Sarkar (NIT Jote), S/O AK Yadav (GHSS Naharlagun), S/O Salam Babul Singh (MTGHSS Itanagar), S/O Priya (KV No 2 Itanagar), CTO Prof Bhagyalakshmi Narayanapuram (NERIST Nirjuli) and CTO Dr Aswini Kumar Patra (NERIST Nirjuli), along with the PI staff of 1 AP BN NCC.
The programme concluded with an interactive session, during which participants gained valuable insights into the capabilities of modern military equipment and the dedication and professionalism of the Indian Armed Forces in safeguarding the nation.
