ADC-led team inspects construction of Working Women’s Hostel at Yupia

Yupia, Feb 3: A district-level committee led by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Tame Yajum, on Tuesday inspected the ongoing construction of the Working Women’s Hostel at Yupia.

The project is being constructed under the Department of Women & Child Development, with the Water Resources Department (WRD) as the executing agency. The total approved cost of the project is Rs 7.23 crore.

During the inspection, the committee found the overall quality of construction to be satisfactory. However, it was observed that completing the G+2 building within the stipulated eight-month timeframe would not be feasible. As a result, the committee noted that a time extension may be required to ensure proper and durable completion of the project. The original completion target of March was considered impractical in view of the present pace of work.

The physical progress of the project was assessed at around 52 percent, while the financial progress was reported to be in line with the work executed so far. Parking arrangements were also discussed.

ADC Tame Yajum directed the executing agency to maintain construction quality at all stages and assured that she would take up the matter of time extension with higher authorities.

During the inspection the ADC was accompanied by Circle Officer (HQ) Mary P Bui, Executive Engineers from PWD and WRD, Deputy Director, ICDS, Assistant Commissioner Bengia Yakar, DD, ICDS Jaya Taba, and other district officials. (DIPRO)
