Army troops respond swiftly to medical emergency involving tourists at Mechuka

Itanagar, Feb 3: Spearhead troops of the Spear Corps on Tuesday responded promptly to a medical emergency at Pokhar, Mechuka, after two tourists—Yati Yorung and Papil Koje—lost consciousness following a visit to Lamang.

The Nursing Assistant at Pokhar immediately provided first aid and initiated essential resuscitative measures. As the patients remained in critical condition with limited response to initial treatment, Indian Army troops deployed in the area quickly assessed the situation and initiated urgent medical evacuation.

Despite difficult terrain and time-sensitive conditions, the troops organised a swift and well-coordinated evacuation, ensuring continuous medical care and close monitoring en route to the MI Room at Mechuka.

The timely intervention by the Indian Army played a crucial role in stabilising both patients and preventing a potentially life-threatening situation.

Both tourists are currently admitted at the MI Room, Mechuka, under the supervision of the Regimental Medical Officer. Officials said their vital signs are stable and they are receiving appropriate medical care. They have been referred to the Community Health Centre, Mechuka, for further investigations and follow-up treatment.

The incident once again highlights the Indian Army’s commitment to humanitarian assistance and its role as a dependable first responder in remote and challenging terrain, strengthening the civil-military bond.
