Itanagar, Feb 6: Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik reviewed the progress and challenges of the State’s education sector in a meeting with Education Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona and Commissioner (Education) Amjad Tak at Lok Bhavan here on Friday.
The review focused on strengthening the education system to meet the aspirations of Arunachal Pradesh’s youth and the evolving developmental needs of the State.
Reiterating the vision outlined in his recent Assembly address, the Governor said that the youth are the State’s greatest asset and stressed the need to ensure access to quality education, relevant skills and supportive institutions that build confidence and prepare them to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Referring to Mission Shikshit Arunachal 2029, aligned with the National Education Policy 2020, the Governor emphasized the need for robust monitoring mechanisms, with special focus on foundational literacy and numeracy. He highlighted the importance of well-trained and motivated teachers, residential schooling facilities where required, and digital-enabled classrooms to overcome geographical challenges.
The Governor also underscored the need to expand higher education institutions, strengthen scholarship support and introduce more skill-based professional courses within the State to reduce migration and harness local talent. He said these reforms would make education a key driver of inclusive growth and help realise the vision of a ‘Viksit Arunachal Pradesh’.
