108 Ambulance ensures timely rescue of accident victim

Itanagar, Feb 9: A woman sustained serious injuries after being hit by a motorcycle while crossing the road at Niti Vihar here on Sunday night. Prompt intervention by the 108 emergency ambulance service ensured her immediate rescue and medical evacuation.

According to sources, the accident occurred at around 8.52 pm when a Bullet motorcycle struck the woman, while she was crossing the road, causing her to fall on the road and suffer traumatic injuries. She reportedly became unconscious and unresponsive following the impact. Local residents immediately informed the 108 emergency service.

An ambulance stationed nearby reached the scene swiftly. The emergency medical team carried out a primary assessment (ABCDE protocol) and provided on-the-spot first aid along with necessary immobilization and stabilization. The injured woman was then evacuated and shifted to RK Mission Hospital, where her condition was stated to be serious at the time of admission.

Eyewitnesses credited the quick arrival of the 108 ambulance for ensuring timely medical attention. Traffic movement in the area was briefly affected following the incident.

The 108 Ambulance Service, operated by EMRI Green Health Services in the state, has attended to over 1,600 road traffic accident cases since its launch on June 21, 2021, and has handled more than 35,000 emergency medical cases across the state.
