CoA holds workshop on ‘Value Addition of Agri Produce…’

ITANAGAR, Feb 15: A one-day workshop on “Value Addition of Agricultural Produce for the Smallholders of NEH Region” was conducted at the College of Agriculture, CAU(I), Pasighat on Friday.

Sponsored by ICAR-Central Institute for Cotton Research, Nagpur, and the input items by ICAR-Indian Institute of Rice Research (Hyderabad), the workshop was attended by around 50 participants, including farmers and students from the region.

Dr Geeta Mehra, Head, Department of Food Science, MCM-DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, the invited speaker of the programme, delivered an interactive session along with a practical demonstration on “Capacity Building for Livelihood Enhancement of Farmers” focusing on value addition techniques and income generation opportunities.

Krishna Kanta, Organising Secretary, Bharatiya Kishan Sangh, Assam, Meghalaya & Nagaland, graced the event as chief guest, while Dr Indu Swami, Head, Department of English, Assam University, Diphu Campus was the guest of honour.

Earlier, the programme commenced with a welcome address by Dean College of Agriculture, Central Agricultural University (Imphal), Pasighat, Dr. Sanjay Swami.

Organizing secretary Dr Helen Soibam also spoke.

Later, distribution of gardening kits was also carried out.
