RONO HILLS, Feb 18: A three-day International Seminar on ‘Living World—Education of Past, Present and Future’, organized by the Department of Education, Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), in collaboration with CEAM Kerala, NETRA Foundation, and other institutions, concluded at the RGU’s mini auditorium here today.
The paper presenter and participants were blessed with the wisdom of the 18 resource persons from outside the university. The key speakers included Dr Gunay Abilova, Chairman BRICS International Education Council, Russia, and Prof Hrushikesh Senapaty, former Director NCERT, New Delhi.
There were four panel discussions on the themes, namely ‘The Historical Foundations and Cultural Heritage’, ‘Teacher Education and Professional Development’, ‘Contemporary Challenges and Innovations’, and ‘Future Directions and Sustainability’ respectively. Moderators for these panels included Prof J Sahoo, Prof Elizabeth Hangsing, Prof T Lhungdim, and Prof Anga Padu, all from the Dept of Education (RGU).
The seminar aimed to provide a platform for sharing and discussing ideas on various dimensions of education for a sustainable future through education.
RGU Vice Chancellor Prof S K Nayak, delivered inspiring remarks, commending the event’s success in fostering global educational discourse.
On the occasion, the VC presented certificates to outstanding participants, including Habung Mammung, Radhe Sunka, Borsha Rani Das, Munni Tayeng, Pratiksha Kashyap Sharma, Sumpi Borah, and Nangku Saring, recognizing their exemplary contributions to the international seminar.
Dr N T Rikam (Registrar RGU), Prof Elizabeth Hangsing (Dean Faculty of Education), and Prof Jayanta Choudhury (Organisation Secretary NETRA), shared insightful words, appreciating the seminar’s rich deliberations on themes like AI in learning, climate education, and NEP 2020 alignment.
HoD Education Prof Boa Reena Tok also spoke.
Prof C Siva Sankar presented the comprehensive seminar report, highlighting its key outcomes.
