RBI, Ita conducts financial literacy program at Basar

ITANAGAR, Feb 19: A field level financial literacy programme, conducted by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Itanagar, was held at Basar in Leparada district today.

Graced by Leparada Deputy Commissioner Himani Meena, the event witnessed the presence of key officials, including Ekansh Garg, Lead District Officer, RBI Leparada; Dr Lalit Maurya, District Development Manager, NABARD; Rajib Rudra, Assistant Manager, RBI; Bikramjit Bhattacharjee, Lead District Manager; and branch managers from PNB, SBI, and HDFC Bank.

Teams from ArSRLM, led by Suzy Ori, BMM, and CFL Basar, led by Marter Chiram, CM, also actively participated. Over 90 participants attended the programme.

In her opening address, the DC engaged with participants and highlighted the importance of financial literacy in the current scenario. She urged attendees to utilize the platform to clarify doubts regarding common financial transaction issues. She also cautioned the public about rising cases of digital arrests and financial frauds, encouraging them to stay vigilant.

LDO interacted with participants and explained various RBI initiatives aimed at safeguarding customer interests. He also informed the gathering about the RBI grievance redressal mechanism for resolving banking-related complaints.

Dr Maurya spoke about major Government of India schemes such as PM Vishwakarma, PM SVANidhi, APY, and KCC, encouraging beneficiaries to make full use of these programmes. He also stressed the importance of regularly updating KYC to ensure seamless banking services.

The programme concluded with an interactive session where bankers addressed queries from participants and provided suitable solutions to their concerns.
