Itanagar, Feb 21: State Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik has urged graduates to cultivate a problem-solving attitude rooted in national needs while addressing the 12th Convocation of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Arunachal Pradesh at the DK Convention Centre here on Saturday.
Gracing the convocation as chief guest, the Governor emphasized the importance of developing strong technical competence complemented by innovation. He encouraged students to embrace adaptability and lifelong learning in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
A total of 373 students were awarded degrees, including 319 Undergraduate degrees, 7 Master’s degrees, and 47 PhDs. Institute Gold Medals were conferred upon Vishal Raj, Vanshika Marwaha, Bhukya Nageswari, Kunisetty Narendra, and Jyotiranjan Satapathy for securing top positions in their respective branches.
Congratulating the graduates, the Governor exhorted them to imbibe ethical values and uphold social responsibility, integrity, inclusiveness, and sustainability in their professional journeys. He stressed the need to nurture teamwork and leadership qualities, stating that nation-building is a collective endeavour.
Highlighting the broader national vision, Parnaik said that each NIT graduate has the potential to contribute meaningfully to the goal of Viksit Bharat through purposeful action and professional excellence.
Commending the Institute’s progress, the Governor noted its 95 percent placement record, with more than 100 companies expressing interest in recruiting students. He also appreciated the establishment of a 5G laboratory equipped for advanced research in communication technologies.
He remarked that National Institutes of Technology play a crucial role in nation-building by delivering quality technical education, fostering research, and driving innovation aligned with societal needs. He underscored the importance of strengthening manufacturing capabilities and building a robust MSME sector as national priorities evolve.
Guest of Honour Prof TG Sitharam, former Chairman of AICTE, and Chairman, Board of Governors, NIT Arunachal Pradesh, Ramesh Kumar Sarogi, also addressed the gathering. NIT-AP Director Prof Mohan V Aware presented a report on the academic achievements, training initiatives, placements, and other activities of the Institute.
Deans, heads of departments, members of the Senate, faculty members, graduating students, and their parents attended the ceremony.
At present, NIT Arunachal Pradesh has 851 students and 48 faculty members.
