Ruksin, Feb 21: Amid the prolonged dry spell and prevailing extreme weather conditions, the administration issued a public advisory, cautioning residents about the heightened risk of fire outbreaks that could endanger lives, property, forests, and the environment.
In the advisory, the administration urged citizens to strictly refrain from open burning of dry leaves, agricultural residues, garbage, or any combustible materials, particularly near residential areas, forest zones, and roadsides. Residents have also been advised to exercise utmost caution while using fire for cooking or heating purposes and to ensure that flames are completely extinguished after use.
Burning of forests and grasslands has been strongly discouraged, as fires can spread rapidly under dry and windy conditions. People have been further directed to store flammable substances such as petrol, diesel, LPG cylinders, and kerosene safely and away from potential heat sources.
The advisory also cautioned against discarding burning cigarettes, bidis, or matchsticks in dry grass, forest areas, or public places. Households and shopkeepers have been asked to keep water, sand, or fire extinguishers readily available to tackle any emergency situation.
In case of any fire incident, citizens have been instructed to immediately inform the nearest Fire Service, Police Station, or the Sub-Divisional Administration for prompt response. Village leaders, PRI members, and local volunteers have been requested to actively spread awareness and remain vigilant to prevent possible outbreaks.
The administration warned that strict action would be taken under relevant laws against anyone found responsible for negligent or intentional acts leading to fire hazards. It has appealed to the public for cooperation and collective responsibility to prevent fire-related disasters during the ongoing dry season.
