ITANAGAR, Feb 22: The 2nd edition of Unying Aran Futsal Cup started on a grand note with an impressive opening ceremony at Naharlagun on Saturday, celebrating sports and cultural heritage with the motto ‘preserving culture to sports’.
On day 1, Solung United edged past Bomyerung FC 4-3 in the first match, while Siang United defeated DAB7 6-4 in the second.
The third match saw Nagor FC drubbing Bogun 7-2.
In the fourth match, RGU demolished Sisang 12 – 3.
The event was graced by Getom Borang, Chief Engineer WRD; Akeng Nijo, GM (APAMB) & general secretary ABK Papum Pare Unit; and Dr Anong Borang, Jt Director APSACS, emphasized the importance of preserving culture through sports. They highlighted that Unying Aran, being a major festival marking the beginning of festivals in the Adi tribe, must continue to inspire unity and cultural pride among the youth.
