Arunachal Democratic Party merges with Congress

Itanagar, Feb 23: In a significant political development in Arunachal Pradesh, the entire rank and file of the Arunachal Democratic Party (ADP) formally merged with the Indian National Congress during an induction programme held at the State Congress headquarters here on Monday.

The newly inducted members were welcomed by Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bosiram Siram in the presence of APCC vice president Adv Abraham Kaya Techi, Organisation & Administration Secretary In-Charge Chera Taya, state general secretaries, frontal organisation leaders, senior party functionaries and members of the media.

With the merger, former ADP president Adv Tami Pangu, along with the party’s vice president, general secretaries, treasurer, spokesperson and other office bearers, officially joined the Congress fold. Siram declared their formal induction and assured them of equal responsibility and opportunities within the party structure.

Adv Pangu said the decision to dissolve the ADP and join the Congress was guided by ideological conviction rather than political convenience. He stated that the Congress party’s commitment to democracy, secularism, constitutional values and inclusive development resonated with the ADP leadership.

He expressed gratitude to former chief minister Gegong Apang for providing him a political platform and acknowledged the support and guidance of colleagues, including Kipa Natung and Johny Yangfo, as well as party members who stood united during their political journey.

Pangu said the merger aims to strengthen democratic institutions and safeguard constitutional governance in the state.
