Central Donyi Polo Khumku Namlo inaugurated in Daporijo

Daporijo, Feb 23: The Central Donyi Polo Khumku Namlo was formally inaugurated here on Sunday in a grand ceremony attended by a large gathering of indigenous believers and community leaders.

The Namlo was inaugurated by Dr Emi Rumi, president of the Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP), in the presence of president of IFCSAP Upper Subansiri Unit Pimbu Sorum, Tagin Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society president Dr Taro Nilling, and Tagin Language Research & Development Committee (TLRDC) chairman Lardik Kare, along with several dignitaries and community elders.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Rumi strongly advocated for the protection and promotion of indigenous beliefs and traditional systems. He emphasised the importance of preserving ancestral faith and cultural identity for future generations. He stated that the Central Donyi Polo Khumku Namlo would serve as a spiritual centre, enabling Donyi Polo believers to offer prayers and practise their faith in a dedicated place of worship.

More than 500 indigenous believers attended the programme, reflecting strong community support and collective commitment toward safeguarding and strengthening indigenous faith and cultural heritage in the region.

The event concluded with traditional rituals and active community participation, marking a significant milestone for followers of the Donyi Polo faith.
