Pasighat, Feb 26: Continuing its intensified drive against narcotics under Operation Dawn 2.0, East Siang Police arrested two individuals in separate operations conducted under Pasighat and Ruksin Police Stations, recovering 9 grams of heroin and 20 grams of ganja.
In the first operation on Monday, acting on specific inputs, the Anti-Drug Squad (ADS) team led by IC ADS Ayup Boko, along with SI Kuncha Tangha, and constables Samuel Modi and Phinjo Kigar, apprehended Nagos Panggen of Jarkong, Pasighat. The search was conducted in the presence of Executive Magistrate Mum Messer, during which a small quantity of suspected ganja was recovered from his possession.
In another operation on Wednesday, following credible information received at around 9:05 am regarding illegal trafficking of narcotic substances, a police team led by IC ADS Ayup Boko, along with SI K Tangha, Ct O Mize and Ct A Tayeng, in coordination with Nini Tamin and members of the Anti-Drug Warriors team, swung into action.
The team intercepted and apprehended Babul Mishong near NH-515, close to the HP Petrol Pump at Ruksin, in the presence of Executive Magistrate Jyoti Borang, CO Ruksin. A body search led to the recovery of approximately 9 grams of heroin, estimated to be worth over Rs 50,000.
Police informed that the seized contraband was weighed, packed, sealed and documented as per legal procedures, and the entire operation was videographed to maintain transparency.
Cases have been registered at Pasighat Police Station vide PSGT/PS/C/No. 19/26 under Section 20(a) of the NDPS Act and at Ruksin Police Station vide RKN PS C/No. 09/26 under Section 21(b) of the NDPS Act. Further investigation is in progress.
Superintendent of Police Pankaj Lamba lauded the efforts of the ADS and police personnel, reiterating the district police’s firm commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drug offences. He appealed to the public to actively support law enforcement agencies by sharing information on illegal drug activities to help build a drug-free East Siang. (DIPRO)
