Itanagar, Mar 2: Reiterating the government’s commitment to child welfare, Women & Child Development Minister Dasanglu Pul said safeguarding the rights, dignity and overall well-being of every child remains a top priority for the State.
She stated this while launching a series of Child Rights Awareness Pamphlets at the State Civil Secretariat here on Monday. The pamphlets were brought out by the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) and released in the presence of Chairperson Ratan Anya and members of the Commission.
The awareness materials aim to educate children, parents, teachers and the public on key child protection laws, including the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, as well as provisions relating to the prohibition of child labour and prevention of child marriage.
Lauding APSCPCR for presenting complex legal provisions in a simple and accessible format, the Minister said the initiative would help spread grassroots awareness and empower children to understand their rights. She reiterated the Govt’s commitment to strengthening child protection mechanisms across the State.
Pul also urged citizens to promptly report any violation of child rights through Child Helpline 1098, Police Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) 112 and other designated authorities, including the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), the Labour Officer, and APSCPCR, to ensure timely intervention and protection.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairperson Ratan Anya said, “Creating awareness is the first step towards prevention. When children, parents and teachers are informed about child protection laws, we empower society to stand against abuse, exploitation and discrimination. APSCPCR remains fully committed to protecting the rights and well-being of every child in Arunachal Pradesh.”
The initiative marks a significant step towards promoting a safe, secure and child-friendly environment across Arunachal Pradesh, officials said.
