ZIRO, Mar 6: A formal handing over and flagging off ceremony of four hydraulic garbage tipper trucks was held here today under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).
The vehicles were handed over to the District Medical Officer, District Health Society, Lower Subansiri, in presence of Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairperson DHS Oli Perme.
Speaking on the occasion, Malati Malakar, Senior Manager (HR-CSR), Indian Oil Assam Oil Division State Office, Guwahati, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to contribute towards community welfare. She lauded the district administration’s Plastic Ziro initiative and expressed hope that the addition of four garbage tipper trucks would further strengthen the ‘Clean Ziro, Green Ziro’ movement in the district.
The DC appreciated the efforts of SMILE Ziro and conveyed her sincere thanks to IOCL for supporting the district’s environmental initiatives through its CSR programme. She also acknowledged the contribution of former Deputy Commissioner Vivek HP for his role in facilitating the initiative that led to the successful realization of the project.
Smile Ziro, an NGO from the valley played a vital role. It has taken the initiative to approach IOCL under its CSR program, requesting the donation of four trucks to the district administration (Ziro) to strengthen public service delivery in the region.
District Medical Officer Dr Millo Kunya also spoke on the occasion. Among others present during the programme included Mudang Tacho, Deputy General Manager (Operations), Indian Oil Assam Oil Division State Office, Guwahati; Mithil Dhore, Station In-Charge, Ziro ALG Aviation Fuel Station; administrative officers and HoDs, members of SMILE Ziro led by its founder Dr Nani Tamang Jose and Chairman Taru Tana, and general secretary TSD Hage Komo, among others.
