Aadhaar Seva Kendra inaugurated in Itanagar

Itanagar, Mar 13: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) Bhuvnesh Kumar on Friday inaugurated a new Aadhaar Seva Kendra (ASK) in Itanagar to strengthen Aadhaar service delivery in the state.

The centre, located at Bank Tiniali in Itanagar, has been established to enhance accessibility to Aadhaar-related services for residents of the region. It will function as a single-stop facility for Aadhaar enrolment as well as for updating demographic and biometric details of Aadhaar holders.

Speaking on the occasion, Kumar said the new centre would significantly improve access to Aadhaar services in Arunachal Pradesh. He noted that the ASK provides dedicated enrolment and update services in a modern and well-equipped environment.

The CEO also highlighted the importance of the Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) for children to ensure their Aadhaar remains active and usable for various services. He said biometric updates are mandatory for children once they attain the age of five years and again at 15 years.

Updated biometrics in Aadhaar, he said, help ensure seamless access to services such as school admissions, entrance examination registrations, scholarships and Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) schemes wherever Aadhaar authentication is required. Parents and guardians were advised to update the biometrics of their children at the earliest.

He also informed that special MBU camps being conducted in schools will remain free of cost until September 2026.

During his visit, Kumar reviewed the functioning of the centre, including operational efficiency, queue management, infrastructure facilities and adherence to prescribed guidelines and standard operating procedures. He also interacted with residents visiting the centre to gather feedback on service delivery and directed officials to ensure prompt redressal of grievances.

The inauguration programme was attended by Shailendra Singh, DDG, and Praveen Chaudhary, Director, from UIDAI Headquarters in New Delhi, along with Ngachan Zimik, DDG, Abhishek Koushik, Director, and Swapan Kumar Saxena, Director, from the UIDAI Regional Office in Guwahati.

Officials from the state government present on the occasion included Bebing Megu, Director of Economics & Statistics; Vishakha Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Papum Pare; and Toko Babu, Deputy Commissioner of Itanagar Capital Complex.
