More Simong villagers back PFR survey for SUMP

Yingkiong, Mar 14: Community support for the proposed Pre-Feasibility Report (PFR) survey for the Subansiri Upper Multipurpose Project continues to grow, with 20 more families from Simong village extending their consent for the survey activities.

The consent authorization was submitted to the Upper Siang Deputy Commissioner Talo Jerang by Genom Tekseng on behalf of the 20 residents at the Deputy Commissioner’s office at DC Bungalow in Yingkiong on Saturday.

With this latest development, a total of 194 out of 240 families of Simong village have now signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), reflecting strong and growing community support for the proposed initiative.

Earlier, 128 families had submitted their consent on February 26, followed by another 46 families on March 6, expressing their support for the PFR survey and their commitment to the vision of building a better future for coming generations.

Deputy Commissioner Talo Jerang appreciated the forward-looking approach of the villagers, stating that such initiatives would go a long way in promoting development and progress in the region.

Officials said the support extended by the villagers of Simong marks a significant milestone, enabling the government to initiate detailed assessments and planning processes for the proposed project.
