Nature’s fury ravages Banderdewa area, leaving a trail of destruction

YUPIA, Mar 25: Several Panchayat segments under Banderdewa area were ravaged by severe hailstorm and heavy downpour that occurred on Tuesday evening, leaving a trail of destruction across the region.

Post this incident, Banderdewa circle officer Taba Milka visited the affected areas under Pichola, TaniHapa, and Gorubanda Panchayat segments.

During the CO’s visit, it was observed that more than 20 houses were affected by the calamity. Several houses suffered significant damage, with roofs blown away and essential items such as food grains and clothing adversely impacted.

The PMGSY road in the area was temporarily blocked due to fallen trees, disrupting traffic movement. However, with prompt efforts from the local community, the road was cleared by early morning, restoring normal flow of traffic.

Agriculture, horticulture, and fisheries sectors were also affected at several locations. Officials informed that power supply may remain disrupted for the next 2–3 days due to extensive damage to electric poles and transmission lines.

To ensure proper assessment and relief measures, a team comprising the Panchayat Inspector (PI), Gram Panchayat Chairperson (GPC), and Gaon Burah (GB) has been constituted. The team has been tasked with identifying all affected families and submitting a detailed report along with photographs to the Office of the CO, Banderdewa within two days.

During the site inspection, the CO directed concerned individuals to submit detailed lists of affected households for further necessary action by the relevant departments. She also appealed to the public to remain alert during such extreme weather conditions, adhere to advisories issued by the District Administration from time to time, and promptly report any incidents to the nearest administrative office for timely response.
