Tawang SP urges ex-servicemen to aid policing efforts

TAWANG, Mar 26: A first-of-its-kind ex-servicemen interaction programme was held at the office of the Superintendent of Police in Tawang, following the direction of the Director General of Arunachal Pradesh Police.

The programme was attended by officers of District Police and retired uniformed personnel, including former members of Arunachal Pradesh Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) such as the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

The interaction provided a platform for retired personnel to share their experiences from their service years. As senior and responsible citizens, they also raised concerns over the growing incidence of crime and suggested measures such as increasing the frequency of Inner Line Permit (ILP) checks and Protected Area Permit (PAP) verification of foreigners in the district.

Superintendent of Police Tasi Darang appealed to the ex-servicemen to act as the “eyes and ears” of the police and actively contribute to strengthening policing efforts. He emphasized that citizens can assist police and magistrates in detaining individuals involved in cognizable offences and are encouraged to report any suspicious or unlawful activities.

The SP also enquired about administrative grievances faced by the retired personnel after their service and assured them of continued support from the Police Department.

To enhance coordination and communication, it was decided to create a WhatsApp group for regular engagement with the ex-servicemen.

The programme was aimed to recognizing and honouring the contributions of retired personnel, reaffirming that the Arunachal Pradesh Police remains indebted to their dedicated service.
