Sensitization program on ‘drug menace, POCSO Act, school disaster management, Tagin language….’ held at GUPS Daporijo

ITANAGAR, Mar 26: A one day sensitization programme on ‘drug menace, POCSO Act, school disaster management, Tagin language, effective school administration to head of govt schools of Limeking, Nacho and Giba education blocks under Upper Subansiri district’ was held at the Govt Upper Primary School, Daporijo on Wednesday.

Jomo Natung, Sub Inspector and In charge Anti Drug Squad Daporijo; T J Natam, Protection Officer, Dist Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Daporijo; Roniya Marbam, DDMO Upper Subansiri along with Dist Disaster master trainer Lardik Kare, Chairman Tagin Language Research & Development Society, and Take Lusi Sorum (BEO) attended the programme as resource persons.

The DDMO suggested all schools prepare a School Disaster Management Plan and get it approved by the Police and Dist Disaster Management Authority. She also asked to conduct mock drills in schools.

SI Natung presented data of drug cases in the district.

CDPO Natam informed the child adoption process and all relevant guidelines of POCSO Act.

Master trainer Kare stated that if the present generation is not serious enough in the next 50 years there is every possibility of extinction of Tagin language as per present trend. Many Tagin people do not speak in their own language at other places including metro cities, he said, adding that as per UNESCO Tagin language is listed as definitely endangered.

Sorum shed light on school management, solution to enrolment challenge at rural govt schools.

Panam Duku, headmaster in-charge GUPS Dogi Nalo, who was conferred with the State Award in the last Statehood Day celebration at Itanagar, also spoke.
