Itanagar, Mar 27: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik has urged citizens across the state to actively participate in the global observance of Earth Hour by switching off all non-essential lights for one hour—from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm—on March 28, 2026.
Marking 20 years of the global campaign, the Governor called upon the people to contribute to what is being termed “The Biggest Hour for Earth,” highlighting the importance of collective action in addressing pressing environmental challenges.
Emphasising the need to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, he noted that protecting biodiversity is vital for reducing carbon emissions and building resilience against the growing impacts of climate change.
Earth Hour, organised worldwide by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), is a symbolic movement aimed at raising awareness about climate change, biodiversity loss, and the urgency of environmental sustainability. The annual “lights-off” initiative unites people across the globe, encouraging conversations and inspiring meaningful action to safeguard the planet.
