Itanagar, Mar 27: State Chief Secretary Manish Kumar Gupta has on Thursday chaired a video conference with Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs) from 13 districts bordering Assam to review preparedness for the upcoming general elections to the Assam Legislative Assembly.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary directed the constitution of joint enforcement teams comprising officials from Police, Excise, and Forest departments. He also instructed that additional manpower be requisitioned whenever required to ensure effective monitoring along the inter-state border.
To strengthen surveillance, directions were issued for round-the-clock operation of mobile check posts (nakas) until the Assam polls on April 9, 2026, along with the installation of CCTV systems at all key border points.
Emphasizing strict enforcement measures, the Chief Secretary called for rigorous vehicular checking, close monitoring of vulnerable and porous routes, and robust excise enforcement, including observance of dry days. He also stressed the importance of maintaining law and order and directed officials to ensure daily reporting of all enforcement activities.
Reaffirming the state’s commitment, the Chief Secretary stated that Arunachal Pradesh will extend full cooperation to facilitate the smooth, peaceful, and successful conduct of elections in Assam.
