Itanagar, Mar 29: Representatives of Lovely Professional University (LPU), Punjab, called on Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik at Lok Bhavan here on Sunday and discussed academic outreach and collaboration opportunities.

The delegation, comprising Assistant Director and Zonal Head (East India) Bhuvan Sareen and Territory Head of the Permanent Outreach Centre, Guwahati, Khirod Kumar Saikia, apprised the Governor of LPU’s initiatives in expanding academic engagement in the Northeast.

Appreciating LPU’s efforts, the Governor emphasized the need for exchange programmes with universities in Arunachal Pradesh, focusing on key areas such as technology, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and research. He noted that stronger collaboration among universities, along with industries and startups, would equip students with practical skills essential for India’s growth.

Highlighting priority sectors, the Governor encouraged joint research initiatives in areas such as climate change, healthcare, agriculture, and digital transformation. He also underlined the importance of fostering innovation by building linkages with incubators, innovation hubs, and entrepreneurs to nurture job creators.

As Chief Rector of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), the Governor stressed the value of inter-university exchanges in promoting mutual understanding, unity in diversity, and a strong sense of national identity, while also providing global exposure. Such initiatives, he said, would help students better appreciate the customs and traditions of Arunachal Pradesh.

The Governor further advised institutions to strengthen digital literacy, communication skills, and adaptability among students to prepare them for an increasingly interconnected and evolving world.
