Orchid Nest Café at Sessa dedicated to nation; boost to border tourism

ITANAGAR, Mar 29: In a significant initiative to promote tourism and local livelihoods in border areas, the Indian Army’s Gajraj Corps dedicated the Orchid Nest Café at Sessa to the nation and the people of Arunachal Pradesh.

The café was inaugurated by General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Gajraj Corps, Lt Gen Gambhir Singh. The initiative aims to enhance tourism infrastructure while creating livelihood opportunities for local communities and contributing to the overall development of India’s border regions.

Conceptualised jointly by the Indian Army and the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), the project was executed by Gajraj Corps in collaboration with Project VARTAK. The café is equipped with modern amenities and is designed to cater to soldiers, civilians, and tourists alike.

Located in the picturesque Sessa Valley, a few kilometres from the strategically important Nichephu Tunnel, the Orchid Nest Café is expected to become a key stopover for visitors travelling through the region.

Officials stated that such initiatives not only improve connectivity and amenities in remote areas but also strengthen socio-economic growth while promoting the natural beauty of Arunachal Pradesh.
