Itanagar, Mar 30: The Government of Arunachal Pradesh showcased the state’s rich and diverse culinary heritage at the prestigious Times Food & Nightlife Awards held at The Westin Mumbai Powai Lake on Sunday night.
Representing the state, a dedicated stall featured a curated selection of traditional vegetarian dishes including Amin, Chambai, Tasse, black rice, and Churpi, along with an assortment of condiments prepared from indigenous herbs. The exhibit highlighted the unique flavours, ingredients, and culinary traditions of Arunachal Pradesh.
Amid participation from 34 acclaimed restaurants from Mumbai, the Arunachal stall drew significant attention from guests, including hospitality experts, influencers, and media representatives. Signature offerings like Sumac Cold Brew and Smoked Green Tea emerged as crowd favourites, with visitors queuing up to sample the distinctive beverages.
The initiative provided a strategic platform to promote Arunachal Pradesh’s indigenous cuisine at the national level, fostering wider appreciation among a premium audience. It also opened avenues for collaboration in the culinary and tourism sectors, strengthening the state’s positioning as an emerging destination for cultural and gastronomic experiences.
Organized by The Times of India, the event is regarded as one of India’s leading platforms celebrating excellence in the food and hospitality industry, bringing together top chefs, restaurateurs, and industry stakeholders from across the country.
The stall was led by Chef Pinky Veo, supported by Techi Seema, Seema Dodum Gyamar, and Yami Veo. The initiative was undertaken by the Department of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship in coordination with the Department of Tourism, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, and curated by Taste Palate by Jugnu Gupta.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu lauded the effort, stating that the state’s culinary heritage took centre stage at the event. He emphasized that the indigenous cuisine represents not just food, but the identity, culture, and story of the people of Arunachal Pradesh, while also opening new avenues for cultural and gastronomic tourism.
