DAPORIJO, Apr 1: Residents and various stakeholders of Upper Subansiri district on Wednesday staged a peaceful protest rally in Daporijo town against the joint-stock construction company and the authorities concerned over the delay in completion of the ‘TAH’ bridge over the Subansiri River.
The protesters alleged that the construction work has exceeded the stipulated timeline and raised concerns over the quality of execution. They said the prolonged delay has been causing serious inconvenience to the public and daily commuters.
The rally saw participation from a large number of affected residents, who raised slogans against the construction company and the implementing agency, demanding immediate completion of the bridge without compromising on quality.
During the protest, the demonstrators also approached Upper Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Tasso Gambo and submitted their grievances.
Responding to their concerns, the DC assured that a meeting would soon be convened with the contractors and the implementing agency to address the issues and find an early resolution.
The protesters expressed hope that the authorities would take prompt steps to ensure timely completion of the bridge for the benefit of the public.
