NERIST gets AICTE recognition as a Potential Nodal Centre for Universal Human Values

ITANAGAR, Apr 1: North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) has been honoured as a Potential Nodal Centre for Universal Human Values for the period 2025-2027 by the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education).

The honour came NERIST’s way, in recognition of its sincere and sustained efforts in integrating Universal Human Values within its academic framework and in encouraging faculty and students to contribute towards a humane society, environmental sustainability, and national development.

The Institute received this honour at the Vice Chancellors’ Conclave on Universal Human Values for Holistic Value-Based Education held at the AICTE headquarters in New Delhi.

Jointly organized by the All India Council for Technical Education and the Association of Indian Universities, the conclave brought together academic leaders and institutional representatives from across the country to deliberate on the integration of universal human values in higher education in alignment with the National Education Policy 2020.

Besides being recognized as a Potential Nodal Centre for Universal Human Values, the Institute has also been encouraged to further strengthen these initiatives in the spirit of holistic, value-based education.

It is worth mentioning here that the UHV Cell of NERIST is currently the only such Cell in the State.

The Institute was represented at the Conclave by Dr Akbari Jahan, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics and Coordinator, UHV Cell, NERIST, and received the Certificate of Recognition from AICTE Chairman Prof Yogesh Singh, during the felicitation ceremony.

Prof Narendranath S, Director NERIST and Chairperson UHV Cell, said: “The recognition by AICTE underscores NERIST’s sustained commitment to integrating Universal Human Values in higher education and advancing holistic, value-based learning.”

Prof. Sarsing Gao, Dean (Academic) and Convenor, UHV Cell, NERIST, remarked: “This achievement reflects the Institute’s focused efforts in institutionalizing UHV initiatives and promoting a culture of ethical and socially responsible education.”
