e-Office system launched at RGU

RONO HILLS, Apr 1: Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) marked a significant milestone in its journey towards digital transformation with the formal launch of the e-Office system at the Smart Theatre, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, with RGU Vice Chancellor Prof S K Nayak doing the honour.

In his address, Prof Nayak shared reflections from his early days at the university, recalling the introduction of the first computer in the department, and contrasted it with the present achievement of transitioning to a fully digital administrative ecosystem.

The VC emphasized that the e-Office system would significantly ease workflows, enhancing efficiency across all levels of the university.

Tsering D Megeji, Jt Director-cum-Nodal Officer e-Office (RGU), emphasized that the initiative represents a collective institutional effort rather than just a technological upgrade. He described the transition from physical to digital systems as a reflection of the university’s commitment to growth and adaptability.

He further noted that the initiative aligns with Government of India e-governance frameworks and stressed that the success of the system would depend on the collective participation, skills, and mindset of all stakeholders. He encouraged everyone to view the transition not as a challenge, but as an opportunity for growth and efficiency.

Speaking on the occasion, Bijay Raji, Controller of Examinations, highlighted the importance of the e-Office system in ensuring effective governance and moving towards a paperless administrative structure. He acknowledged that initial challenges may arise during the transition phase but expressed confidence that the system would ultimately prove highly beneficial for the institution.

Otem Padung, Finance Officer RGU, in his remarks, underscored the necessity of upgrading and adapting to emerging technologies in a rapidly evolving world. Drawing a relatable analogy, he explained that just as blood is essential for the functioning of the human body, finance is the lifeblood of any institution. He noted that the implementation of the e-Office system would help optimize resources and ensure efficiency, thereby improving overall performance and output.

Dr N T Rikam, Registrar RGU, appreciated Megeji for his pivotal role in spearheading the implementation of the e-Office system. He appealed to all employees to embrace the change with confidence, assuring them that the initiative is designed to simplify processes and enhance ease of work, rather than create difficulties.
