Itanagar, Apr 2: In a prompt and coordinated inter-state operation, Naharlagun Police has successfully traced and rescued a minor girl who had been reported missing since March 26, police said on Thursday.
Acting on the complaint, Officer-in-Charge of Naharlagun Police Station, Inspector K Dev, tracked the girl’s movement to Fancy Bazaar in Guwahati after she had boarded a bus from Naharlagun. Preliminary reports indicate that the girl had run away fearing parental scolding over poor academic performance.
Upon reaching Guwahati, two suspected women allegedly attempted to misguide her, raising concerns of possible trafficking. Acting swiftly on inputs shared by Naharlagun Police, a team from Pan Bazaar Police Station located and rescued the minor.
She was safely brought back and reunited with her parents, while the suspected women fled the scene on noticing the police presence.
Naharlagun Superintendent of Police Dr Nyelam Nega has stressed the importance of proper guidance, care, and emotional support from parents and relatives, especially during challenging phases, to help prevent such incidents.
