NFR strengthens connectivity by extending special train services

MALIGAON, Apr 5: To clear the additional rush of passengers, the services of weekly special train no 06571/06572 (Yesvantpur Jn–Katihar-Yesvantpur Jn) has been extended for another 15 additional trips each in both directions. The extension of this train will help clear additional passenger rush and strengthen connectivity between Southern and Eastern parts of the country, benefiting passengers from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal and Bihar, along with improved access for travellers from the Northeast.

Additionally, it has been decided to operate a special train no. 08047/08048 (Santragachi–Naharlagun - Santragachi) for 12 trips. Operations of this special train will help passengers in travelling towards their destination for different purposes like summer holidays, exams, medical etc. Also, waiting listed passengers of other trains in these routes can avail the facility.

Train No 06571 (Yesvantpur Jn – Katihar) weekly special has been extended to run on every Tuesday from 7th of April 2026 to 14th of July 2026. In return direction, train no 06572 (Katihar - Yesvantpur Jn) weekly special has been extended to run on every Friday from 10th of April 2026 to 17th of July 2026.This train will operate with the existing schedule of service, timings, composition and stoppages.

Special train no 08047 (Santragachi – Naharlagun), will depart from Santragachi on every Friday at 18:00 hours from 10th of April 2026 to 26th of June 2026 to reach Naharlagun at 20:50 hours on the next day.

Similarly, Special train no 08048 (Naharlagun - Santragachi), will depart from Naharlagun on every Saturday at 23:55 hours from 11th of April 2026 to 27th of June 2026 to reach Santragachi at 04:15 hours of Monday. Enroute, it will halt at important stations including Bardhaman, Malda Town, Siliguri Jn, Kokrajhar, Rangiya and Rangapara North, among other stoppages. The train will run with a composition of AC 2-tier, AC 3-tier and Sleeper Class coaches for the convenience of passengers.

The extension of these special train services will significantly benefit passengers by providing additional travel options and easing congestion on busy routes.
