Initiatives ‘on skiing and snowboarding’ will pave the way to put Tawang on international adventure tourism & sports map: CS

TAWANG, Apr 11: State Chief Secretary Manish Kumar Gupta along with Commissioner Health & FW Pawan Kumar Sain visited the ongoing Winter Adventure Tawang training programme at PT Tso Lake here, where state youths are undergoing intensive training in skiing and snowboarding under the aegis of the Ski Mountaineering India Federation.

During the visit, the CS lauded the efforts of the Department of Youth Affairs, GoAP and Adventure-X Fusion Tribe for successfully organizing and managing the training programme in the picturesque setting of PT Tso Lake.

Interacting with the participants, Gupta congratulated all 46 trainees for successfully enrolling in the programme and for their dedication towards learning winter sports under professional guidance. He appreciated their enthusiasm and commitment, noting that such initiatives play a vital role in promoting adventure sports among the youth of the State.

Highlighting the natural potential of the location, Gupta remarked that PT Tso offers an exceptional landscape with ideal slopes suited for skiing and snowboarding activities.

“I am grateful to the organizing and managing committee for giving me the opportunity to relive my memories of 30 years by skiing with trainees from across the State at PT Tso Lake today,” he stated.

Expressing optimism about the future of winter sports in the region, the CS stated that such initiatives will significantly contribute to placing Tawang on the international adventure tourism and sports map.

The visit further boosted the morale of the trainees and organizers, reinforcing the government’s commitment to promoting youth engagement in adventure and winter sports across Arunachal Pradesh.

The 10-day training programme commenced on April 5 and is scheduled to conclude on April 14. It will be followed by the Open National Ski Mountaineering Championship on April 15, featuring participation from athletes representing various parts of the country.
