Itanagar, Apr 14: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik today extended his warm greetings to the people of the State on the joyous occasions of Bohag Bihu and Longte.
Extending Bihu greetings, the Governor also conveyed his best wishes to the people of Assam on behalf of the State, expressing hope that the elegance and sanctity of the festival would bring enduring happiness, prosperity, and well-being to all.
In his message, he said that Bohag Bihu, also known as Rongali Bihu, heralds the arrival of spring and marks the beginning of a new agricultural cycle. It is a time of renewal and hope, when the farming community rejoices in nature’s abundance and offers prayers for a bountiful harvest.
He noted that the essence of Bihu comes alive through lively dances, melodious songs, and joyous celebrations that bring communities together in a spirit of unity and shared happiness.
Meanwhile, extending greetings on the sacred occasion of Longte, the Governor described it as a unique and deeply meaningful festival distinguished by its celebration without any ritual sacrifices. Rooted in agrarian traditions, the festival symbolises fertility, growth, and harmonious coexistence between humans, animals, and nature, he said.
Highlighting the cultural significance, the Governor said Longte reflects the wisdom of ancestors in invoking benevolent spirits for the welfare of humankind, seeking blessings for abundant harvests and protection from natural calamities, pests, and diseases.
On both auspicious occasions, the Governor prayed for peace, harmony, and prosperity for all, invoking blessings of Donyi Polo for the well-being of every living being and continued strengthening of cultural heritage and unity.
