Army initiative helps 6 Koloriang students secure Sainik School admission

Itanagar, Apr 14: In a significant boost to educational opportunities for youth in remote border areas, the Indian Army has enabled six students from Koloriang to secure admission to Sainik School East Siang through a structured coaching and mentorship programme.

The initiative, undertaken by the Spearhead Division of the Spear Corps, trained 48 students from remote areas including Sarli, Koloriang, and Daporijo, with a focus on preparing them for the Sainik School Entrance Examination. Of these, 40 students appeared for the exam, and all successfully cleared the written stage.

In the first phase of final selection, six students from Koloriang — Chakpu Mardu, Nangram Menju, Pisa Mindu, Milli Taki, Chera Tais, and Chello Chikap — secured admission, marking a major achievement for the region.

The programme builds on last year’s success story of Mili Yabi, whose selection had inspired many young aspirants to pursue similar opportunities.

The training included expert coaching in Mathematics, General Knowledge, and Intelligence, along with regular mock tests and exam-oriented guidance. The Army also provided logistical support, including transportation to examination centres in Itanagar, medical assistance, and continuous supervision throughout the process.

Officials said the initiative reflects the Indian Army’s commitment to nation-building and youth empowerment in border areas by providing access to quality education and equal opportunities.

The achievement, from one selection last year to six this year, highlights a growing wave of aspiration and transformation in the region, driven by dedicated mentorship and sustained support.
