Drug peddler held with heroin in Nlg

Naharlagun, Apr 18: In a swift anti-drug operation, the Naharlagun Police apprehended a suspected drug peddler and seized heroin from his possession at Panchayat Colony.

Acting on credible inputs, a police team led by Inspector Krishnendu Dev, Officer-in-Charge of Naharlagun Police Station, conducted a search at the residence of the accused in the presence of Executive Magistrate Khoda Bath.

During search, the accused, identified as Tumli Nyodu alias Techi Kaal Nyodu (34), a resident of Panchayat Colony, was examined. While initial checks yielded little, a thorough search led to the recovery of 30 plastic vials containing suspected heroin weighing approximately 38.50 grams. The contraband was concealed inside a black polythene bag hidden in the bathroom roof. Police also recovered Rs 2,300 in cash and Nitcor-10 tablets from his possession.

A case has been registered at Naharlagun Police Station vide NLG/PS Case No. 45/26 under Sections 21(b) and 29 of the NDPS Act, and the accused has been formally arrested.

Naharlagun SP Dr Nyelam Nega urged the public, especially parents and youth, to remain vigilant and cooperate with police in efforts to curb the drug menace.
