World Heritage Day celebrated at Tuting

Tuting, Apr 19: On the occasion of World Heritage Day, the Spearhead Gunners organized a vibrant cultural programme at Solung Ground in Tuting, highlighting the rich tribal heritage of the region.

The event was attended by Circle Officers, Principals of various schools, a large number of students, and members of the local tribal community, who enthusiastically participated in celebrating the region’s cultural diversity.

A major highlight of the programme was the captivating performances by members of the Adi, Memba–Khamba, and Idu Mishmi tribes. Dressed in colourful traditional attire, the performers presented a variety of indigenous dances. The Adi tribe was represented by groups from Tangam, Moi, Bogung Bokang, and Zido, each showcasing distinct dance forms that reflected their unique customs and traditions.

Participants ranging from four-year-old children to elders aged 70 took part in the performances, symbolizing the intergenerational continuity of cultural traditions. Through their dances, they narrated traditional folklores and depicted the deep connection between nature, community life, and heritage.

The programme served as a meaningful platform for preserving and promoting the cultural legacy of Tuting’s indigenous communities. It also offered an enriching experience for students, fostering awareness and pride in their traditional roots.

The initiative by the Spearhead Gunners underscores the Indian Army’s commitment to community engagement and the preservation of the region’s cultural heritage.
