Secy S&YA reviews preps for State level HDMT 2026

ITANAGAR, Apr 20: Aimed at assessing preparations for the 9th edition of the State level tournament for HDMT 2026, scheduled to be held at Aalo in West Siang district from May 16, Secretary Sports & Youth Affairs Abu Tayeng chaired a coordination meeting at the DC’s office conference hall, Aalo today.

The meeting was attended by the Director Sports, West Siang Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, Deputy Director Sports, District Sports Officer (HQs), heads of various departments, and executive members of sports associations.

In his address, the Secretary urged all stakeholders to extend full cooperation and work in close coordination to ensure successful conduct of the event. He emphasized that the people of West Siang are widely recognized for their warm hospitality and strong sporting culture, expressing confidence that the district will host the event with excellence and pride.

Approximately 1,500 athletes, along with technical officials and team staff, are expected to participate in the tournament, which will feature Under-16 Boys’ and Girls’ competitions in football and volleyball.

The events will be conducted across multiple venues within Aalo township, beginning in the second week of next month.

The meeting concluded with detailed discussions on key aspects such as logistics, accommodation, security arrangements, and venue management to ensure the smooth and successful organization of the competition.

DIPRO Aalo adds: A preparatory meeting for the 9th State level HDMT 2026 was held today at the DC’s office conference hall, Aalo, under the chairmanship of Abu Tayeng, Secretary Sports & Youth Affairs.

West Siang Deputy Commissioner Mindo Loyi, in his speech, expressed gratitude to the GoAP for selecting Aalo as the venue for the prestigious event. He assured full logistical support and cooperation from the district administration’s end.

Chairing the meeting, Tayeng stated that the HDMT is a flagship programme of the state government, aimed at nurturing talent at the grassroots level. He said that West Siang has strong sports infrastructure and is well-equipped to host a State-level tournament.

Director Sports Tadar Appa asked the District Sports Officer and all stakeholders to complete preparations of venues and accommodation facilities well in advance.

Eken Bam, circle officer and in-charge DSO (Sports), presented an overview of the arrangements for the upcoming event through a PPT.

SP West Siang Kardak Riba assured that comprehensive security arrangements will be put in place during the tournament.

Among others, Dy Director Sports Mala Lingi, and DOA president Nyatum Bagra also spoke.

The meeting was also attended by District Medical Officer Dr Linya Lollen.
