Fire Service Week observed in Tezu with awareness activities

Tezu, Apr 23: Fire & Emergency Services, Tezu, observed Fire Service Week 2026 from April 14 to 20 with a series of awareness programmes, inspections, and mock drills aimed at promoting fire safety among the public.

Led by Fire & Emergency Services Officer-in-Charge Horda Lona, the observance began with a commemoration parade and a two-minute silence in honour of firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty. A road rally was also conducted to spread awareness about fire prevention measures through public announcements and pamphlet distribution.

Key activities included a fire safety campaign at Anganwadi Centre, Telluliang; a mock drill at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Tezu; and inspections of industrial units and Zonal General Hospital to assess fire safety compliance.

Community outreach programmes were held in Nepali Basti, while a yoga & meditation session was organised for personnel. The week concluded with a poster competition on the theme “Fire Safety in School,” where Ankita Dorjee (class VIII) secured first position, followed by Pratik Sinha (class IX) and Prince Prasad (class VIII) in second and third place respectively.

On April 21, Lohit district Superintendent of Police Thutan Jamba distributed prizes and certificates to the winners. The week-long observance saw active community participation and enhanced public awareness on fire safety. (DIPRO)
