Governor extends Moh Mol, Gumkum Gumpa greetings

Itanagar, Apr 24: Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik extended his warm greetings to the people of the State on the occasions of Moh Mol and Gumkum Gumpa, conveying his wishes for peace, unity and prosperity.

Greeting the Changlang district’s Tangsa community on Moh Mol, the Governor said the festival, rooted in the agrarian way of life, marks the culmination of one agricultural cycle and the beginning of another. He noted that it reflects the deep bond between people, nature and the land, and lauded the community for preserving the tradition with devotion and cultural pride over generations. He expressed hope that the rich cultural legacy would continue to inspire the younger generation to uphold their customs and values.

The Governor also prayed for a bountiful harvest, happiness in every household and the continued vitality of the community’s cultural heritage, adding that the festival strengthens the spirit of togetherness and harmony.

Extending greetings on Gumkum Gumpa, he conveyed his best wishes to the Puroik community, stating that the festival symbolises joy, harmony and togetherness. He said the celebration marks an important phase of reunion and collective resettlement of the community after years of living in scattered habitations.

Noting that festivals have always been the soul of any community, the Governor said Gumkum Gumpa reflects the values, history and identity of the Puroik people and stands as a testament to their resilience. He expressed hope that the festival would continue to reinforce bonds of brotherhood and promote harmony among all sections of society.

The Governor wished that both festivals bring happiness, strengthen unity and contribute to the overall well-being of the people of the State.
