Itanagar, Apr 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday virtually inaugurated the Indoor Cricket Academy at Midpu, Doimukh, marking a significant milestone towards strengthening sports infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh.
In a major boost to cricketing infrastructure in the Northeast, similar indoor cricket academies were also inaugurated simultaneously in five other North Eastern states alongside Arunachal Pradesh. These academies have been fully funded and constructed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), underscoring its commitment to expanding cricket infrastructure and nurturing emerging talent in the region.
The virtual inauguration ceremony was attended by Doimukh MLA Nabam Vivek, former Arunachal Cricket Association president TC Tok, and prominent public figure Roger Nabam Hina.
Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries underscored the importance of world-class sports infrastructure in promoting youth development and creating opportunities for aspiring cricketers. The Indoor Cricket Academy is expected to serve as a key training hub, enabling year-round practice and skill enhancement regardless of weather conditions.
The initiative reflects the BCCI’s continued focus on grassroots sports development and youth empowerment through modern facilities. The academy is also expected to play a vital role in identifying and grooming future cricketing talent from Arunachal Pradesh and across the Northeast.
The event concluded with a collective expression of gratitude towards the Prime Minister for his support and vision in advancing sports development in the country.
