PASIGHAT, Apr 29: East Siang Deputy Commissioner Sonalika Jiwani had an interaction programme with Class X CBSE (AISSE) toppers of the district for the academic session 2025–26 at her office conference hall here today.
A total of 14 toppers, accompanied by escort teachers and officials from the DDSE office, participated in the programme, which aimed to motivate students, provide career guidance, and expose them to real-world administrative functioning.
On the occasion, the DC extended a warm welcome and congratulated all achievers for their outstanding performance. Highlighting the importance of education, she stated that while over 70 departments contribute to development, education remains the most fundamental pillar. She commended the students for their phenomenal achievement and encouraged them to uphold honesty, discipline, and dedication in their pursuits.
Advising students on career choices, the DC emphasized the importance of understanding subject combinations such as PCM and PCB/PCMB. She noted that students aspiring for engineering should opt for PCM (with Computer Science), while those preparing for NEET should take PCB. She urged students to introspect and make informed decisions based on their interests.
Sharing her own journey, she mentioned that despite having an engineering background, she later pursued civil services, highlighting that life is vast and academics form only one part of it. She cautioned against increasing distractions and advised students to stay focused, start early, revise regularly, and go beyond NCERT textbooks, especially for competitive exams like JEE and NEET. She also expressed hope that future JEE and NEET toppers would emerge from Pasighat.
Earlier, the East Siang DDSE/DEO encouraged students to continue striving for excellence.
During the interactive session, students shared their experiences and aspirations, and received valuable guidance from the officials.
The district topper, Lajong Borang of GHSS Mebo, who secured 97.6%, was specially acknowledged for his outstanding performance.
ADC Pasighat Pebika Lego also addressed the students, and encouraged them to remain adaptable and open to change, highlighting that career paths may evolve over time. (DIPRO)
